Shopping for Classic Cars 1982 and Older


When you think of antique cars, you may not think of classic cars 1982 and older. However, this is actually quite a big market in the world of collector cars. There are a great many sought after vehicles that were made after 1982. The history of the automobile is grouped into different eras. For example, there is the Veteran Era, Brass Era, Pre-War Era and Post-War Era. The vehicles produced after 1982 can best be described as Modern Era. The Modern Era spans approximately the last 25 years of car production.

There are a great many Modern Era autos that are sought after by car enthusiasts and collectors. When it comes to the compact car, two of the most popular include the Volkswagen Beetle and the Volkswagen Golf. The VW Golf, although compact, features room for five and a square hatchback style body. In the sedan category there were a great many cars made after the year 1982 that are popular with today's collectors. They include the Honda Accord, Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight, BMW 3-Series and Ford Taurus. These cars remain popular to this day. Other vehicles that gained popularity after 1982 include the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Chrysler minivan.

If you are shopping for an old car, there are two price guides that you may want to keep handy. They are the NADA price guide and the Kelley Blue Book. The NADA guide has a canary gold cover and the Kelley Blue Book has a blue cover. These volumes are pocket-sized books that can be purchased at your local bookstore or automotive specialty store. They can also be ordered online. These books list several values for used and new cars. Values are based on condition which includes Fair, Good, Excellent and Show Quality.

There are many places where you can find classic cars 1982 and older for sale. One is your local newspaper classifieds. Here you will find lots of for sale by owner cars, often for bargain prices. You may also want to visit some used car dealerships in your area. If you can't find what you're looking for, the Internet can help you. Many people buy and sell cars on sites like Ebay Motors and Craigslist, so they are definitely worth your time if you are looking for a certain car that you're having trouble finding.
